The Tech Academy
The Tech Academy is a trade school headquartered in Portland, Oregon that offers full-time and part-time bootcamps online and in-person at their Portland campus. The Tech Academy offers part-time and full-time bootcamps in computer programming, website development, cybersecurity, game development, mobile development, data science, front-end development, tech marketing, and tech sales. The immersive experience aims to create well-rounded technology professionals, and also gives students the option to take the course at their own pace. There are also no set starts dates or rigid scheduling. Students can enroll at any time, study from home, and choose whatever study schedule they would like.
The Tech Academy’s bootcamps cover topics including computer science fundamentals, programming basics, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, C#, Python, Bootstrap, jQuery, React.js, project management, Agile, Scrum, MVC, version control, Java, and more. Each bootcamp also includes a Live Project, where students gain real-life experience to add to their resume as well as job placement assistance.
None of The Tech Academy's bootcamps require any tech background or experience. To apply, applicants need to take an IQ test with logic-based questions (to ensure applicants can read, write and perform basic math), followed by an admissions interview.
The final part of every The Tech Academy bootcamp is the Job Placement Course which covers interviewing skills, resume writing, where to find tech jobs, and gives students access to job placement staff who assist students in landing technical positions.

My experience at The Tech Academy was extremely positive, from start to finish. The course itself starts from zero, but is comprehensive in a way that introduces new concepts but also provides challenging, practical assignments to make sure you understand how to utilize them properly. Working as part of a live team for one the final steps of the training is a lot of fun - I was remote, but felt present and definitely part of the group with my contributions and daily check-ins.
Although I wasn't able to utilize the job placement assistance to it's fullest extent (I was taking this course to prepare for an inter-company movement), having gone through the exercises and material, I felt that it was top-notch, providing structure/tools/goals for the students.

Great Experience, Would reccomend
Great overall experience, was able to get off the ground running with my programming skills and be employed within 3 months of beginning the program. The Live Project portion of the program was by far my favorite, and where the Academy really shines. Would reccomend to anyone interested in a relatively quick education with great instructors and tons of hands-on coding. Aja, Chris G, Jordan and Aaron all rock!

It's pretty good

The Tech Academy and it's staff care about your success, and will help you as much as they can in order to succeed in both the curriculum and afterwards. For me I had planned on trying to finish the bootcamp a little quicker to go on a trip before the summer, but things happened and they were kind enough to make an exception, but overall it will be the best benefit to do the content thoroughly and at as fast as pace as possible.
Content wise, overall it is very good, and is updated often, there was some restructure as I did it before they split it into these more specific C#/Python tracts. It could be different now, but I do wish there was more emphasis on Algorithms, especially considering many companies interview based on your knowledge of such things, and problem solving as you go through the interview rounds.
Coding is not easy, finding your first job is especially not easy, but the Tech Academy will give you the right foundation and they do really want you to succeed. Since the campus in Seattle is newer and not as established, they don't have as many connections to local companies as say, their main one in Portland.

Well Rounded Curriculum
I completed the C# and .NET Framework boot camp several years ago. The structure is nicely organized and balanced with reading, videos and then doing it yourself. Plenty of practical exercises. It was great to attend locally so I could learn along with people that shared my passion for learning coding. The camaraderie is great and it is a generally positive atmosphere - especially on brunch days!
The job placement part of the boot camp was the most challenging, but luckily the job placement staff is extremely dedicated and knowledgeable. I recommend attending every round table to get the most out of it.
The most surprising part of attending The Tech Academy was how much I learned after I graduated and started my career as a software developer. I feel like The Tech Academy really set me up to succeed by being able to learn any new technological concept quickly. I recommend doing yourself a favor and changing your life by attending this coding school.

An excellent experience
The Tech Academy does a great job at staying in communication with the students throughout the process, building a support network and sense of community from day one. The course content is good but the most important thing I learned from the boot-camp is how to learn, meaning I can grow my skills better even without the school.

Was it hard? Yeah. It was challenging. There is a lot to learn, and while the courses move at a good pace and through the material in a way designed to build up your knowledge quickly, you've got to be paying attention and putting in the time and work. You can't just copy code and learn. You have to DO it.
The instructors were very helpful, I never had to wait long for the answer to a question or to get feedback on essays or code reviews. The real gem though is the Live Project. Getting a feel for what development is like in a team setting/job simulation was invaluable and invigorating.
The course isn't easy. Finding jobs isn't easy. But if you're willing and able to take on a challenge with your whole heart and mind, I can tell you that the rewards are there. With the help of The Tech Academy, only you stand in your own way.

During my search I found The Tech Academy and contacted them. I was invited to come look at the school and talk about coding. I decided to join their bootcamp because I wanted to be able complete it online while I was working a full-time job. The Tech Academy provided me with a laptop while I attended the bootcamp. I made a schedule and stuck to it the best that I could. This really helped me stay focused and stay on track with my coding.
Everyone I spoke to at The Tech Academy was nice and helped me when I was stuck. Being a remote student, I would watch the lecture and if I got stuck on a challenge I was able to reach a remote instructor via email or by phone. I felt like this gave me a glimpse into what a remote job would be like because in most cases you will get a piece of a project and work on it yourself but if you can always ask someone for help.
My favorite part of the course was the Live Project. I live in a small town and I was able to get an internship at a local web marketing company. It took some time to coordinate my internship because I had to plan it around my work schedule. Everyone at The Tech Academy worked with me to get my internship scheduled and provide the company instructions on what I needed to get from my internship. The Tech Academy also provides a job placement director who helps you find a job by providing mock interviews, feedback after the interviews, help with your resume, and sending job post emails. This was what helped me choose The Tech Academy, because if you put the effort into learning to code and you want to succeed in coding, they can help you start your career.
