RED Academy is a full-time, 12-week or 24-week design and technology bootcamp with courses taught on-site at RED's campuses in North America and Europe as well as at participating university campuses. Programs are taught by seasoned industry professionals where students work with real clients on real-world projects. Coursework is designed to be modular, immersive and radically relevant to today's tech industry, giving students the skills, tools and software to help them succeed in today’s fast-paced digital economy. RED exists to develop and support the designers, developers, disruptors and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. Course subjects include full stack web development, UX design, digital marketing, UI/communication design, and app development.
Coming from a four year design program previous to this, as well as a few internships in various agencies/start-ups, I found RED to have the same friendly, community vibe - if not better! Working with like-minded people, has definitely motivated me and made the learning experience great.

In my short time here, I've worked on many client projects that have really taught me how to navigate the world of design and how to effecitvely communicate with clients about ideas/art directions etc. The instructors have been nothing but helpful in motivating and pushing me into exploring different methods of research, design etc. and have definitely given me the skills I need to move forward.
12-week intensive programs aren't for everyone. However, I HIGHLY recommend RED Academy. For me, it was the perfect fit for my career transition into UX. A huge part of success with RED Academy is that you get what you put in. The program is intense and you'll spend a lot of time working on projects. But if you put in the work, RED will provide all the resources you need to succeed.

The class instructors are very supportive. They are available to help with any questions, even after you finish the program. I appreciated how they use different teaching styles and used lots of "learning by doing" activities.
I felt everything taught was directly useful to real world working. They provide the tools you need to complete your projects -- which is where the real learning happened. You work with real clients on real work, which adds pressure since you aren't just redesigning Twitter or anything. From conversations with UX professionals, this sets RED apart from many other intensive training programs. They also provide training and support for developing soft skills, like teamwork and communication.
You get support after you graduate with job search assistance, but I found the resume and portfolio help during the course equally helpful. The continued feedback has been so helpful as I'm looking for work. I feel confident that the training provided by RED will lead to a job.
I must say that I had my share of skepticism coming into the program due to the short duration compared to traditional programs at public institutions. What if it was true and that I can learn the skills necessary to transition in the tech industry in three months? The time saved would be invaluable and I decided to enroll in the full-time UX Design program. In hindsight, I'm glad that I took the program at RED Academy.

I can confidently say that I gained more real world skills in the three months compared to my four-year undergraduate degree. The school operates like an agency and working with real clients really helped me to become confident in entering the workforce. The instructors are very knowledgeable and the staffs are always around to support you. People at RED really grows on you that you'll miss seeing them every day.
My only constructive feedback is that I felt that the UI elements were overlooked and that we should at least have the foundations as many employers seek for UX/UI Designers. However, it is understandable that there's only so much that you can put into a three-month curriculum and that there's the UI program should you feel that it's necessary. Nevertheless, I learned so much during the program and would recommend it to anyone that is looking to get the relevant skills to enter the tech industry.
RED will give you all the tools and love you need to get the ball rolling. You'll miss all the cool people you meet once your finished. Do the full time! It's so worth it.
I graduated from Simon Fraser University (SFU), one Canada's top institutes, with a Bachelors degree in Psycholgy and high hopes for the future. While I learned a tremendous amount within my undergrad, I was lacking practical hands on skills that are required to succeed in today's fast paced job force. I quickly became aware that experience was an absolute necessity to get any job, and unfortunately I was lacking in both experience and passion for the psych field.

That's when I came across RED Academy. While transitioning from an arts background to a communications/marketing one, there were many obstacles and uncertainties. I knew I wanted to flourish in the tech industry but needed to acquire the hard skills to do so. Not only did I gain hard skills at RED Academy, but I was given soft skills, access to an amazing network, and a family I will cherish for the rest of my life. RED does an excellent job of providing all the real world knowledge and skills needed in preperation of entering the tech sector.
When I first started the program, the fast pace and self-determination needed to excel, made me a little weary. That being said, with having little to no understanding of marketing and the digital realm, I picked up on the concepts with the help of the instructors. Also learning throughout the program that asking questions is encouraged and necessary to fully grasp each concept. Once you get on the same wavelength of the programs pace, it doesn't necessarily become easier, but you get a hang of things. I will say, this program is not intended for people that have previously "gotten by", it requires A LOT of hard work and effort and does entail long hours at school, and often doing work on the weekends. While I did not have a problem with that, it can become stressful and being able to manage stress is an extremely important part of the program, which leads to the FRIDAY SOCIALS! These socials held every Friday at RED kept me sane and reminded me that even when times get tough, we must remember to take a break. They were the highlight of my time at RED and reminded me of how close I had gotten with the people there.
I loved my time at RED and leaving was one of the most bitter-sweet moments of my life, but I know their doors are always open to us and I have gained so much from taking the digital marketing professional program. I whole heartedly reccomend this program to anyone looking to expand their current skillset or anyone looking for a career change.
Motto: Work hard (during the week) Play hard (at the Friday Socials)
:)
I decided to attend the Digital Marketing Foundations course at RED because I felt I was lacking the skills, tools and knowledge after I finished my bachelors degree in Business.

The courses are taught by the industry's best with years of hands-on experience on every topic + great speakers form the top tech companies in Vancouver. The part-time Digital Marketing Foundation course gave me more than a “foundation” in digital marketing, it provided me with up-to-date techniques, tips and tools to be a top marketer.
9 months after completing the course, I managed to find a job in Digital Marketing thanks to the skills and education I got at RED.
I recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn more about the digital world, looking to expand their knowledge for their current position or looking to change career paths!
The web development professional program did a great job of preparing me for a career in web development. I was taught coding languages and workflow processes that are currently being used in the industry, how to research the answers to new coding challenges and how to debug code. After finishing my university arts program at a major academic institution I had become quite disappointed with the lack of practical, hands-on, experience I had developed. Thus, my interest in helping digital agencies in Vancouver's tech industry was hindered by my lack of relevant knowledge and experience. RED Academy provided a great solution to my gap in knowledge and experience in tech. Overall, RED Academy programs are extremely hands-on, allowing you to work with real clients that truly need your support. Although you are supported by your instructors, the curriculum is based on a self-taught mentality, which in my opinion, realistically reflects not only the current state of tech workforce, but also the future of tech (where a rapidly changing environment will require that individuals become their own instructors and their own filters). The Digital Marketing Professional course is highly recommended if you flourish as a team worker, enjoy fast paced environment and have an open-minded approach to learning. Overall, in my eyes RED Academy can be seen as an innovative learning environment, somewhere between a school and an internship. You are always supported by great people and a positive environment, recommended!
I decided to take Digital Marketing at RED after noticing that the world of public relations was becoming increasingly driven by online content. I was hoping to gain some basic industry knowledge that I could apply to my day-to-day work for clients, but what I took from the course was much more.

I was pleasantly surprised with the wealth of content and practical tips that our instructor, Michael Steele, was able to provide in such a short timeframe. I found great value in the opportunity to put this information into practice every class. After the first class, I was able to begin bringing my newfound skills to use at the office and work with our clients to optimize their digital marketing strategies.
I have now built an incredible network of industry professionals and have gained knowledge and experience surrounding SEO strategies, Google Adwords and Analytics that have been extremely valuable tools for planning and reporting in my career.
Was in the first cohort of UX Design full-time program, and it helped me to switch careers and get hired as a UX Designer. The school's culture and instructors are so great. The networking opportunities with other students is also an amazing aspect. Would highly recommend the school to anyone looking to advance their skills in the tech industry. This is the new education model, and it WORKS!
I first heard about RED Academy through a family member. I had just completed a 6 month introductory program for design at BCIT, which had left me a little lost in terms of career direction. I knew that I wanted to do something design related, but lacked a specific skill set that would allow me to do so.
I decided to take the UX Desgin Professional program in hopes that it would suppliment my visual design learnings. I figured it would be a proper marriage of learning.

The course was a 12-week condensed boot camp that crammed as much practical information as humanly possible into my tiny cranium. Anything UX or UX related was thrown our way in hopes that some of it would stick. It was up to us to retain as much of it as possible. With a program of this ilk, I think it is more than fair to assume that a huge part of the learning must be self motivated. The majority of the money spent on tuition went towards safely experimenting with different ideas and thought processes in the safety of an open minded enviroment.
It's an enviroment that is very welcoming of all, but only helpful to some.
I know that statement comes with a negative undertone, but it is not exactly what I mean. It is not to say that there are people who will not benefit from a program of this kind. Its value hinges on the mental state of the student. If you walk into this program with the hopes of finding a job just for money, you will be deeply disappointed. However, if you are approaching this program in hopes of discovering a passion (whether it be the program you take or not: RED offers a ton of opportunities at self discovery), you will have come to the right place.
I loved every moment of my time at RED. It allowed for a great amount of personal growth in a very short period of time.
Your actions are a direct reflection of you as a person. At RED, you really do get what you put into it.
My journey with RED has been an incredibly informative, personalized and eye-opening experience. I come from a technical background, but before starting the course I had no previous web or app design experience. I come from a technical background, but before starting the course I had no previous web or app design experience. My motives were entrepreneurial: I want to build a web-centric company in my own (smart homes) industry, starting with nothing more than an outlining idea.
The course was well structured, fast evolving and inspiringly taught: there were several ‘light-bulb’ moments. The class sizes were small enough to get one-on-one attention when needed. The instructors (different specialized instructors for different topics) came from diverse backgrounds with lots of nuggets of information; always willing to help. Furthermore there were graduates from previous (full-time) classes on hand (sat at the back of the class) when more simple help was needed. The course is very ‘real world situations’ focused. Relevance is always highlighted and contextual discussion between classmates (with instructors) is promoted. The learning process feels like a systematic implementation of creative solutions. It was unlike any normal ‘schooling’ - dry and boring in my opinion - I’ve done before. This generated an amazing energy that’s felt throughout the Academy.
I’ve been able to take enormous amounts of understanding away with me and grow that further. RED has also been instrumental and hugely supportive in my post-graduation business development. I’ll be back for more, soon!
If you’re looking to diversify your experience with real-world projects that can put you on direction to create a product or portfolio which has meaningful impact and supports your personal growth possibilities…. If you want somewhere that simply feels like the learning environment you always hope an educational institution could be… RED is for you.
