Codeworks

I came to Codeworks to learn coding and apply it in future start-up development, but I didn't expect anything that happened in the following 3 months. The program is incredibly intense and makes you give the best of yourself every single day, it requires perseverance and self-discipline to go beyond your personal limits, to go out of your comfort zone and to reach new levels. Codeworks is not an easy course, but its one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. At the end of the 3 months you realize that you are doing thing that you were even afraid to imagine before starting and that you are fully able to implement amazing projects yourself. Another very relevant thing that is given to you by Codeworks is the ability to get used to fast and intense learning, which gives you the capacity to pick up quickly any new tool, framework and even programming language after the course itself.

Apart from the content of the course it has two other components that make your experience in the bootcamp so outstanding: the people and the atmosphere. The people who you meet at Codeworks are exceptional professionals, developers, entrepreneurs and leaders. They inspire you to go forward every day and most importantly thay become your true friends who support you and make you laugh even on the toughest day when every line of code that you write breaks. They are also the ones who make the atmosphere in the bootcamp so friendly, informal and comfortable, that makes you want to stay longer and enjoy all the time spent at their amazing office. 

Long story short: it is an incredible experience that I would recommend to anyone who wants to not only learn coding and become a full stack developer capable of almost anything, but also to make friends, achieve new horizons and live 3 amazing life changing months in Barcelona. Codeworks is the place to be!

I just completed an Intro to Coding class with Alex and it was like drinking out of a fire hose! I learned the a few basics - using a bit of theory and some practical exercises - in three 2-hour sessions. Alex and his team were patient, fun to work with, and understood how to convey the absolute basics to absolute beginners. I'd definitely recommend it for someone that wants to get a taste of coding before making a bigger commitment to a bootcamp or someone who wants to better appreciate the work their colleagues do on a day-to-day basis.

Codeoworks has been an incredible experience and would reccomend this to anyne looking to change careers and delve into Full Stack Engineeing. I am a civil engineer and only had prior Matlab experience so the learning curve was intense at the start but due to the quality of the teaching and supportive environment, things started to click and I could start building full stack applications within 6 weeks.

I made friends with the tutors , co-founders and students that I will have for the rest of my life and we are looking to co-work with some of them in the future. Codeworks has an intense hiring round week at the end of the course which had in excess of 10-15 companies looking to hire engineers from Codeworks.

The campus in regards to the facilities are the best I have seen in Europe (and trust me I did my research before joining) and Barcelona is a great city for tech startups. I moved here from Melbourne and I did not have any problems with the language or to settle down here.

I joined the Codeworks full-stack Javascript program as part of their 2nd cohort. I was looking for a course in Europe that focused on Javascript, particularly the latest front-end and back-end frameworks. I believe this is the only bootcamp that offers this at the moment. Their 12-week curriculum, as well as their location in Barcelona, appealed to me, so I applied. I ended up visiting the school during a trip to Barcelona, and got to meet some of the staff. That just reinforced my decision to attend Codeworks. Definitely glad I made that choice.   The instructors are JS ninjas. Their teaching methods are effective, particularly when they live-code examples and solutions to exercises and articulate their thought processes while coding. They’d give students the opportunity to live-code as well, which I thought was a good exercise for us.   Since Codeworks is a new program, the staff is willing to listen to our feedback and adapt to our needs. They’re a great team, that seems genuinely invested in our success. Moreover, our cohort was a small group, made up smart and driven professionals. I’ve learned a great deal from everyone involved, which helped make the marathon schedule more tolerable and enjoyable. In spite of the long hours, we did manage to have a few social outings, and networking opps at local tech events. Building a solid network, particularly here in Barcelona, has been a welcome benefit, since I may end up working here after we complete the program in February.   Overall, my time at Codeworks has been worth the money and sacrifice. I’ve leveled up my JS dev skills, and now have hands-on experience using the latest tools and frameworks that are in  high demand across the industry. I highly recommend the  program to anyone else wanting to do the same. 

I really enjoyed my time at Codeworks. The instructors and classmates were great and the curriculum was extensive. Looking back at the end of the course at everything we covered, it really is quite surprising how much you can learn in a short time. It did take me a while to find work after the course, but the things I learned during my time put me in a great position to be immediately productive in my new employment. I will mention though that I did have prior programming experience (as a hobby), so I was already familiar with a lot of concepts and techniques, which no doubt helped. But don't let that put you off as there were plenty of people in my cohort who had never done any programming before and still succeeded.

I am glad I attended Codeworks as it gave me the step up I needed to change "career". However, be prepared for A LOT of work! Minimum twelve hour days, plus you may stay late to continue learning, which you most likely will want to do. It pays off, though!

The post-course career advice was also useful. I probably wouldn't have found work when I did if not for the advice I received.

During my time in Codeworks' Software Engineering Immersive course, I truly felt my growth and progress. Over the span of three months, I not only learned the JavaScript language but, more importantly, I mastered core concepts like data structures and algorithms, as well as skills in front-end, back-end, and databases. It was an incredibly challenging journey, but it's these challenges that shaped me into a stronger programmer. I learned how to tackle complex problems, collaborate effectively with teams, and maintain composure and focus under pressure. This course wasn't just a technical learning experience; it was a comprehensive journey of personal growth, for which I am deeply grateful.

 Having no experience on Bootcamp than Codeworks I cant say “It’s not any other Bootcamp out there” but having heard about other Bootcamp from their student I can say that Codeworks is intense compared to other Bootcamps. Their pre course work alone is very challenging making it quite difficult to get admitted but having said this, they offer enough materials and support for aspiring student to be able to finish the pre course even without prior experience or knowledge. 

 

I would recommend doing it in person rather than remote but thats just personal preference as it can be done fully remote. I personally enjoy doing and learning things on my own but instructors are very supportive when you need them. The course materials are informative though some are not up-to-date the instructors covers that by explaining the topic further and giving more real life examples when needed. 

 

The job support that Codeworks offers is one of, if not, the best out there. It is one of the main reasons why I chose to attend Codeworks. This is certainly one of the things that they got correctly. Not only with the weekly calls but also being available when you need a one-on-one session. 

I though it would be useful for potential applicants to be aware of the Pay When You Get Hired  (Deferred payment plan) criteria.

Codeworks only award this to less than 20% of students that apply for the deferred payment plan. 
That means that of the 2-3% of students that are admitted only 1 student per location can be awarded this financing option. 
They pick 1 person out of hundreds of applicants which they say is especially challenging as all of the students that make it through the admissions process are quite remarkable with incredible life stories, technical skills, and soft skills....

I was not made aware of these criteria until already admitted and thought they would be useful when deciding on your bootcamp!

My Overall Experience rating would be  2 stars as they were kind and helpful when trying to have sign up and pay for their bootcamp.
