Claim Academy is a 3-month developer coding and software training bootcamp in St. Louis that offers 12-week to 20-week classes in full stack Java, C#/.NET, Javascript, and Cybersecurity analysis. Claim Academy is approved to operate by the State of Missouri Department of Higher Education to train IT professionals. Students can apply with with little to no programming experience, but should be prepared for an in-person or webcam interview, and should complete the Introduction to Java Course through Teachable before the first day of class.

Throughout the three-month bootcamp, students complete pair programming, work with mentors and instructors, and produce a coding final project, which they present to potential employers and other interested parties on demo day. New classes are offered every 6 weeks.

Upon graduation, the team at Claim Academy helps place graduates in companies as Full Stack Software Developers in Java and .Net software development. Claim Academy graduates have been hired into major companies like Daughtery Business Solutions, Carfax, Technology Partners, Centene Corporation, Clearent, and OneSpace.

    Great Experience

I learned so much during my time at Claim.  I was provided with all the training needed in order for me to transition to a career in software development.  It was truly a life changing experience.

    I changed my career

The instructors at Claim Academy were the best part about the course. They were extremely helpful and kind to me and all of the other students. I knew next to nothing before the class, but they did not seem frustrated or angry with me at any point. My only complaint would be the overall organization. They had moved to a new location, and this definitely showed during my class, especially for the first few weeks. As we progressed we all got more comfortable and organized. A few classe...

    Good experience, still needs work.

I was a member of the first .NET cohort, so it's possible things are different now than they were when I was there. Overall, this was a good experience for me. I was not happy with my current job and really wanted a change, and this opportunity came up, so I went for it, since software development was something I'd always been interested in.

We had three teachers that were excellent and one who just wasn't particularly well-suited to teaching, but he ended up parting ways after n...

    Amazing learning experience

I had an academic background however lacked the exposure to industrial practices and challenges. I was introduced to the latest technology stack and after the program was placed with an excellent opportunity! Life changing experience. Would highly recommend it!

    Lack of organization

I was working as a junior software developer when I decided to learn a new language and get some good training.  I was self-taught and needed some guidance, and Claim Academy seemed like a good choice.  I decided to moved from Florida to take the course in St. Louis.

This was a true mixed bag.  While many of the things we learned are directly applicable to my current job, it was in spite of Claim Academy and not because of them that I succeeded and learned.

It wasn't bad, but it could have been better

One instructor knew his stuff, but I think a textbook or an online course on Udemy would have helped quite a bit.  He wasn't available for one on one mentoring sessions.  The other instructor knew his stuff much better than the other one but he left midway through the course.  I liked him a lot, but I think he may have burned out teaching.

    Real World Programming Experience

Claim offers a challenging curriculum, real world hands on developing experience, and knowledgable staff. If you are willing to put in the work, Claim will make a developer out of you. The only thing they could add, is an internship program to help its graduates break the Jr Developer ice.

    A good learning experience

Started this bootcamp without knowing a single thing about cybersecurity and with the help of my instructor, I learned the fundamentals and gained the expertise to become certified in CompTIA’s security plus course.

    Don't Believe the Reviews

I attended Claim, but ended up dropping out shortly before the class was over. The reason was the poor instructor that failed to teach anything. There were only 3 of us in the course, and all three of us went to Claim to ask for a new instructor, and each time they only went "Well he has two Masters so he's staying". The school does not actually care if you succeed or not. They got your money, and that's all they care about. Most of your time will be self-teaching, something you can do w...

Unfortuately when you refuse to attend class, follow the process to later disappear. Then blame the school for all your problems. As per reviews, you stated "They didn't so much force, but it was highly recommended" We ask our graduates to freely share reviews about their experience. Over 95% of students write from their reviews and let the world know. Sometimes we have people like you who we disagree with us and we equally don't approve of your posture or comments since they are just blamming another person for what you should be responsible for.

    Claim

An Important Note: I got my first dev job thanks to Claim Academy. By all accounts, everything worked out. My peers who had less coding experience coming into the course used their time wisely and got a lot of work done. They learned a lot and would all make great developers. This review is only meant to do one thing. To let people know that they have better options and why those options may be better. Making the choice to attend any school is an important one.
