Big Blue Data Academy

This bootcamp is a great introductory course to gain an understanding of the technologies and processes involved in a Data Engineer's career. All the instructors were helpful and proactive, and made sure to ask each participant personally about any pending questions. There were a lot of hands on exercises, which is exactly what I was looking for and is necessary to fully grasp the concepts discussed in theory. However, if you already have a background in coding, the first 2-3 weeks may feel like a very slow start, because the course begins with very basic python (eg. variables, if statements, for loops). I would have also liked to see a little more emphasis on the industry's best practices, dos and don'ts, and a little bit of data warehouse design. I am not sure if this idea fits the company's business model, but I think it would be beneficial for the students if the course was split into total beginners and intermidiates. 

During the Data Engineering Bootcamp, I gained hands-on experience as an example building data pipelines with Docker and Apache Airflow and improved my SQL skills.
In general, the bootcamp helped me to have a clearer and more comprehensive understanding of the data engineering workflow and processes.

This bootcamp is more than just an introduction. It equips you with the skills and knowledge to launch a career in data engineering.
However, be prepared to dedicate significant time and effort – it's definitely an intensive program!

As a graduate of the Big Blue Data Academy's Data Science Bootcamp, my review based on my experienced is 4/5. Here's why:

Curriculum:
The curriculum encompassed a broad spectrum of knowledge, structured into modules that significantly aided in building my understanding of the program's procedures. The bootcamp begins with the basics and progressively increases the complexity of the content smoothly. However, since the bootcamp is designed for individuals with a relevant background or at least a basic understanding of programming, and considering the pre-work material provided before the course schedule begins, I believe the introductory parts could be skipped to allocate more time to advanced topics. For example, the curriculum could include machine vision or, more crucially, Cloud computing, which we did not cover but is often listed as a requirement in data science job descriptions. Overall, the program's curriculum seemed to cover all the subjects a junior professional needs to start their career in the field.

Content:
The content was outstanding! It was well-structured, explaining everything clearly and could stand alone without the need for an instructor, as it included images, examples, and frequently, web links for more detailed information on the course's subject. The best aspect of the content was its targeted approach to the necessary knowledge, providing all you need to know without unnecessary details that could cause confusion. It consistently made a complex subject understandable, breaking it down into digestible parts, making the interaction with the material enjoyable and sparking curiosity for further exploration. What made it even more remarkable was the exceptional blend of "theory" and "hands-on" content. Each module was structured to engage you with the reading material first, followed by hands-on challenges that allowed you to apply what you had learned. The exercises were consistently excellent, facilitating further learning throughout the process. Each exercise was crafted to mirror real-world challenges, adding a vital dimension to the learning experience. In summary, the bootcamp's content was exceedingly professional!

Instructors:
A huge shoutout to the amazing instructors! They were always reflecting there passion for the data science profession making the course hours even more interesting. Supportive and insightful and ready to facilitate you in every issue you are facing, not giving you the solution but driving you to find it yourself. No one left behind during the bootcamp! The instructors made sure that everyone will understand everything no matter what! They were engaging and challenged you to push yourself to find the solution to the problems. They were not only instructors during the courses, being senior and lead professionals in the filed, they were also sharing there knowledge and experiences from the real world cases they faced. There advices and guidance was invaluable!

Schedule:
 The bootcamp schedule is very rigorous, making it almost unbearable for someone who is also working. The initial courses focus on introducing Python coding and ensuring everyone’s skills are at the same level. For those with prior experience, this part of the schedule may seem relaxed. However, as we progressed to Machine Learning topics, keeping up became increasingly difficult. The learning curve steepened with each course, leaving little time to explore beyond the provided content. I felt that the schedule could be expanded to include more total hours.
 
Projects:
The portfolio projects were an excellent chance to collaborate with classmates and apply the knowledge you've acquired, along with your creativity, to address real-world scenarios using self-collected data. Ultimately, you present your findings and receive the invaluable feedback of your instructors. Throughout this process, with the support of the instructors, the bootcamp provides an opportunity to truly test skills like teamwork, task and time management, creativity, as well as coding and presentation abilities. However, as the project is expected to be completed and presented within a single day, having fully enjoyed those days, I would strongly suggest announcing the project's subject earlier. This would allow participants to collect their data beforehand and concentrate on their implementation ideas, thereby enhancing the quality of the deliverables for more satisfactory outcomes. Moving on to the final project, which I considered the highlight of the bootcamp, you get to collaborate with a company partner of the academy on a data science project that will test your skills. The chance to interact formally with company representatives, receive specific requirements, and work on something that has the potential to be utilized was the main reason I chose to participate in the bootcamp. Unfortunately, my expectations were not met by my experience due to the lack of formality in my interactions with the company, which undermined my sense of providing genuine service and work that could potentially fulfill any of the company's needs. Nevertheless, the entire experience was a game-changer, and the benefits to the process were substantial in terms of both my hard and soft skill development.

Overall: 
My experience at the bootcamp was immensely enjoyable, and the knowledge I gained has already proven beneficial in my professional life. The Academy fosters a robust community spirit, offering a supportive and collaborative network that is essential in data science. This sense of community encourages ongoing education, networking, and career development. Although there are areas for enhancement, the advantages I've gained from the program far outweigh any drawbacks. Ultimately, I would strongly endorse the Big Blue Data Academy's Data Science Bootcamp to anyone seeking to progress in the field of data science.

 I recently completed a Data Science bootcamp, and I am excited to share my experience. Over the course of 6-7 months, the bootcamp provided access to a vast amount of material and gave me the opportunity to apply what I learned in practice. Each lesson included both theoretical components and practical exercises, which we could work on with the support of our instructors.The school was truly supportive, offering personalized guidance to each student. The instructors were always willing to help and direct us whenever we had concerns or questions.This journey was highly enjoyable, and I would definitely recommend this bootcamp to anyone interested in starting their path in the world of Data Science. 

This bootcamp was a really unique experience!

Before I begin I had zero coding experience (besides the basics of python that I learned in order to attend the lessons) and my background was in Bussiness Administration. But it didn't matter at all since the program is such organised that you can not only understand the theory but also fully see and apply in practice what you have learned. 

There is a huge amount of practical examples and exercises for every chapter and this bootcamp surely covers all the fundamentals and even more for everyone who is interested in entering the field of Data Science.

All the instructors were really helpful and eager to answer all the questions and help in the best way. Another really important thing for me was all the advice that we had for the real work environment through examples of their experience.

Finally, I would like to mention the final project in cooperation with a company that lasted over a month, where I was able to apply as much as possible of the knowledge I had acquired and understand much more of the project as a whole.

The Big Blue Data Academy Data Science Bootcamp was an incredible experience that exceeded my expectations. It was challenging but ultimately rewarding, equipping me with the skills and knowledge needed to launch my career in data science. I recently completed the Data Science Bootcamp of Big Blue Data Academy and wanted to share my thoughts. Overall, I rate the experience a solid 5 out of 5. Here's why:

The curriculum was fantastic. It covered everything from basic programming to advanced machine learning in a clear and understandable way. I felt like I got a great foundation in all the key areas of data science.

The instructors and the TA were knowledgeable and helpful, but there were a few times where things could have been explained a bit better, considering the tight time schedule that needed to be kept. Additionally, the rotating instructor approach of teaching was a bit confusing sometimes. However, all instructors (including the TA) were available and willing to provide advice that helped us advance in confidence in the world of data science.

Job assistance was top-notch. The bootcamp really helped me in re-shaping my resume, giving me crucial info for my future interviews and connecting us (alumni) with potential employers. I feel confident about my job prospects thanks to their support.

In summary, the Data Science Bootcamp of Big Blue Data Academy was a fantastic experience. 
Despite me working and studying at the same time, I am thrilled I got to experience this programme and learn not only all the basics, but also advanced material on Data Science.
Even though it was really challenging for me, who had little to no experience in the field, everything was explained to me in such a way that I feel confident in my choice to change career paths and dedicate myself to studying Data.

I highly recommend it to anyone looking to break into the field of data science. Completing the bootcamp feels extremely rewarding and opens up numerous possibilities both work and study-wise.

Over the past 14 weeks, I've had the opportunity to immerse myself in the world of data analytics with a course conducted by the Big Blue Data Academy at Deree - The American College of Greece. The course was well structured and organized with a methodical thinking from industry experts with working knowledge on analyzing data. The goal was to help students gain and enhance Analytical Skills, Proficiency in Data Manipulation tools and also provided guidance on Effective Communication of findings to diverse audiences. It entailed both theoretical and hands-on experience with a glimpse on Data Science.  I feel excited to leverage these skills to a newly found career path!
