My Experience with the Boot Camp:
My experience with the boot camp has been nothing short of transformative. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed, covering a wide range of data analytics tools, techniques, and real-world applications. The instructors' expertise and dedication to teaching made the learning process engaging and enjoyable.


My Favorite Aspect of the Program:
If I had to choose a favorite aspect of the program, it would undoubtedly be the collaborative environment. The boot camp fosters a strong sense of community among students, and I had the privilege of learning from and alongside incredibly talented individuals. The group projects and teamwork not only enhanced my technical skills but also prepared me for the collaborative nature of the data analytics industry.


Advice for Prospective Students:
To prospective students considering this program, my advice is simple: embrace the learning journey with an open mind and a growth mindset. Data analytics is a dynamic field that continually evolves, so be prepared to adapt and learn continuously. Don't hesitate to ask questions, seek help when needed, and utilize the resources available to you. Lastly, take advantage of the networking opportunities provided by the boot camp—building professional connections can be just as valuable as acquiring technical skills.

I had an outstanding experience at UC Berkeley's Data Science & Analytics bootcamp. The instructors were incredibly thorough in their teaching, ensuring that each concept was well understood by every student. They consistently went above and beyond to provide personalized support, addressing individual questions and offering additional resources to deepen our understanding. This level of dedication was instrumental in my learning journey.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the bootcamp was its practical approach to education. We engaged in numerous hands-on projects that mirrored real-world scenarios, which significantly enhanced my skills and confidence. The curriculum was comprehensive, covering essential topics such as Python, SQL, machine learning, and data visualization, all of which are critical in the field of data science.
Thanks to the bootcamp's robust training, I was able to secure a job as a Data Analyst even before graduating. This early job offer, just one month before completing the program, was a testament to the effectiveness of the bootcamp in preparing students for the job market. I am confident that I wouldn't have achieved this milestone without the high-quality education and support provided by UC Berkeley's Data Science & Analytics bootcamp.

To be quite honest with you, I was very hesitant about taking on a new career path that I had no experience in. When I first started this program, it was a huge excitement for me, as I was getting ready to enter in a new chapter of my life and take on new challenges to better my personal and knowledgeable growth. Throughout the course, I definitely faced some challenges and felt imposter syndrome hit full force, but it only made me stronger and that’s when I realized that nothing in life rewarding comes easy. I felt frustration and cried many times, but what is success without failure. I lifted myself back up and made a promise that this would be something I accomplish and will look back to say that I actually did it. On the final day, came to our last project, I could tell you that the sense of relief was unexplainable, and one of the most rewarding feelings to know, I did it. I am here to say, do not be afraid to take a chance, you’ll always wonder what would’ve happened if you don’t start because you feel like the time is not “right time”. There is never a right time to take risks in life. Always remember that you are exactly where you’re supposed to be, and you can accomplish anything. The program was a great experience for me overall, and my instructor. Luigi was a huge mentor and motivation to me as I aspire to be someday. Thank you to UC Berkeley extension and all of those that helped along the way. Your hard work never goes unnoticed. 

This was the best instructional staff I have ever experienced in my life. Maigen and all the TA's are some of the most genuine people I have ever met, they really cared about us and believed in us through the whole process. Each and every one of them went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure we were getting the best feedback and instruction. Maigen really set the tone with the culture of the boot camp. She had a positive attitude in EVERY SINGLE CLASS that encouraged me to keep going and do my best when times were tough. Thank you so much for this experience. 

The Data Analytics & Data Visualization certificate program offered through UC Berkeley and EdX is incredibly comprehensive. I started as a qualitative researcher intimidated by coding and big data-- 24 weeks later I feel completely confident in my ability to learn new technologies and coding languages. The instructor Kevin Lee was patient and thoughtful, checking in on every student and explaining complex ideas in various ways to ensure different kinds of learners could follow along. It was an intensely challenging yet rewarding experience, and I now feel prepared to take on more quantitative roles. Furthermore, I have exposure to SQL, NoSQL, Machine Learning, HTML, and Python and can now put these skills on my resume.

This program is expensive, moves too fast, and lacks support. I enrolled because the recruiter sold me on the support network—“24 x 7 Learning Assistants, TAs, Tutors, Office Hours.” In truth, Learning Assistants don’t exist for this course, TAs are slammed with grading and rarely respond on Slack, 1:1 Office Hours don’t exist (they’re simply “group question” time before or after the 3-hour class. This class is aggressive because content is presented too fast, so you basically have to teach yourself, and rewatch class recordings, schedule tutors. If you don’t have a background in marketing you will spend many more hours trying to understand. The “instructor” is a knowledgeable industry professional, but not a teacher focused on students actually learning the content well. TAs do all the admin work. Many many of my fellow students are unhappy. You can learn this stuff for much less money elsewhere. I’ve completed other UC Berkeley Extension programs and this was a tremendous disappointment.
