EmergingEd offers online bootcamps in cybersecurity, data science, and blockchain and is open to students from around the world. EmergingEd offers bootcamp courses that span from four to eight weeks and range from entry level to advanced tactical programs. EmergingEd offers three, 8-week cybersecurity bootcamp courses: Cybersecurity Foundations, Cybersecurity Risks and Industry, and Cybersecurity Cases. The three, 8-week Data Science bootcamps include Machine Learning Foundations, Framework and Machine Learning and Industry, and Machine Learning Cases. There are three, 8-week blockchain bootcamps at EmergingEd, including Blockchain Foundations and Framework, Blockchain and Industry, Blockchain and Cases. EmergingEd also offers an 8-week Healthcare Technology bootcamp.
The suite of eight cybersecurity courses provides the most up-to-the-minute threat mitigation and cyberdefense techniques and tools that are increasingly required for successful professionals across industries and enable students to remain competitive for roles in their fields. The base of cybersecurity knowledge offered in these bootcamps can augment existing leadership skills and promote informed and effective decisions. The courses currently offered include Mandiant’s four-module Network Traffic Analysis, three eight-week courses: Cybersecurity Foundations and Frameworks, Cybersecurity Risks and Industry, Cybersecurity Cases, and four four-week courses: Cloud Security, Cyber Threat Intelligence, Building a Threat Hunting Capability and Building a Red Team Capability. Topics covered in these bootcamps include, but are not limited to, the threat landscape, types of attacks and security risks, countermeasures and security functions, NIST Cybersecurity framework, incident response plans, network protocols, honeypots, basic cyber threat assessments, incident response plans, automation and orchestration of cybersecurity in business environments, cloud environment security controls, “pyramid of pain” concept, SIEM solutions and the Mitre ATT&CK framework.
The three data science offerings hone in on machine learning, training professionals to manage the rapidly evolving analytics tools that drive agile, intelligent decision-making. All three bootcamps are eight weeks in length and include beginner-level Machine Learning Foundations and Frameworks, intermediate-level Machine Learning and Industry, and advanced-level Machine Learning Cases. Topics covered in these courses include but are not limited to, machine learning strategies, supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning, Turing Tests, and robotic process automation. The Machine Learning Foundations and Framework bootcamp curriculum includes how to develop research plans for classification and regression; interpret research results from machine learning; recommend deep learning methods for intelligent systems; and how to justify methods of data selection, design sampling and resampling plans, recommend methods for correcting bias and variance, and interpret results from model training and testing. In the Machine Learning and Industry bootcamp, students learn agile project management, imperative and declarative languages, explicit and heuristic algorithms, database systems, batch processing, interactive processing, API standards, and data governance. The Machine Learning Cases bootcamp curriculum focuses on practical learning scenarios developed from real-world cases. Students will utilize insights gained from these scenarios to select the right system architectures and apply machine learning appropriately based on business requirements.
The three blockchain bootcamps help students master skills that competitive professionals increasingly must possess. Students will learn to utilize this dynamic technology and change the way decisions are made within their organization. These eight-week courses include beginner level Blockchain Foundations and Frameworks, intermediate level Blockchain and Industry, and advanced level Blockchain Cases. Topics covered in the bootcamps include but are not limited to Bitcoin, utility and security tokens, blockchain business models, CryptoKitties, the DAO and non-technical blockchain challenges. The Blockchain Foundations and Framework teaches students about the four fundamentals of Blockchain interconnect, Bitcoin, other cryptocurrencies, utility and security tokens, cryptocurrency barriers to entry, and successful and failed blockchain initiatives. Blockchain Foundations and Framework students will analyze a business problem to determine the appropriate choice of blockchain technologies: contract systems, public versus private chain, token type and underlying platforms and describe the different options available for account security on the blockchain. The Blockchain and Industry bootcamp curriculum covers blockchain business models, staffing for blockchain, how to adopt blockchain in an existing company, how to start a blockchain business from scratch, regulatory issues with blockchain, and Blockchain do’s and don’ts. In the Blockchain and Cases bootcamp, students will learn public blockchain initiatives, smart contract programming, DAO, public and private blockchain platforms, non-technical blockchain challenges, and CryptoKitties.
The healthcare technology bootcamp is an eight-week course that teaches students how to leverage healthcare technology and data to improve patient outcomes and care delivery. The curriculum covers electronic health records, telemedicine, the Fast Health Interoperability Resources (FHIR) API, healthcare computing, and predictive analytics.
Bootcamp students who complete a course with a score of 80% or higher receive an open badge that can be displayed on their LinkedIn profile or personal website. Badges can also be shared through email. Open badges are web-enabled versions of a credential, certification or learning outcome which can be verified online in real time.
