Columbia Engineering Boot Camps

Before signing up for the course, I have visited many boot camps and workshops in the NYC Greater Area. By far, this was the best one. To start with, many people who are interested in learning any Computer Science don't even know where to start and what they want to do (Front-end, Back-end, Data-Analysis, Data-Science, etc.). This program exposes you to all these paths; you'll be learning everything from VBA Scripting to Data Bases to Machine Learning. The instructors and TAs are also great and helpful.

 

Also, it's a part-time program that lasts for six months (most of the Bootcamps are intensive 3-month programs) that are 9-6. With this Bootcamp, you don't have to sacrifice your job

However, I would highly encourage all future students to be prepared to invest many hours for them to succeed. This course covers almost, and you do need to invest much time on your own to learn more about each topic.

 

Lastly, they offer job assistance and they dedicate a careet coach that works with each student separtely and guide you through the process of finding a job in the field.

 I had a great seven-month web development coding experience, before starting the program I had basic knowledge of designing the front-end. Now after completing the program, I gained new skills and knowledge in developing the back-end of a site. I had an awesome instructor who came in the second half of the program and taught us a lot which made me engage in learning more in class than before. By the end of the program, I was able to develop a site for tourists who visit New York City using react, mongoose, MongoDB, Ajax, Node.js, along with the essential programming languages. When It came time to present, I received mostly positive reaction from the class, the instructor and even to the visitors on demo day. After completing the program, receiving my certificate and presenting I feel ready and confident to start working as a developer and take on more challenging projects.

I started this Boot Camp with no experience of HTML, CSS or any other coding language. From the beginning the instructors were helpful in making sure you were up to speed with the class and the material being teached. They all dominated the material courses really well and made sure you'd understand the process to figure out the best solutions and which direction to take to make sure your code works. And if it didn't, they also take time to explain to you where you got it wrong. 

The curriculum is very well designed, the pace I consider it to be fast, however, given that every subject is build upon the previews one, its great to see how each coding language informs the next one, and it also helps you figure out what makes an actual website or application work, and all the elements that are involved.

By the end of it, the amount of information, resources and skills that we learned, were really impressive, and given all the course material and the help by the instructors, I feel that I learned somethng that would've take me a lot more time to understand in just 6 months. The span of the course subjects really reflects that.

Its great coding bootcamp and I'm glad I took the chance to learn coding here.

 

This course has been a total eye opener for me!

I have learned more here than I ever could have learned on my own. The way that the instructors care about your education is phenomenal. They take the time to make sure to answer any uncertainties that you may have and do not hesitate to reach out and make sure that you are comfortable with the material.  It is a boot camp, so be ready to take on new information and projects with an allotted amount of time. The experience has been one that I am happy to be a part of and completely recommend the program for anyone who is interested in embarking on a new journey into Web Development. 

 

I applied to the bootcamp to gain more advice knowledge on software development, I did few YouTube courses before but when issues come out I can’t ask anyone, so i decided to enrolled into Columbia Full-Stack Bootcamp. This is my first time enrolling into a bootcamp and I don’t have much expectation, after my first day enrolling I absolutely love it, the instructor were very nice and professional, just ask up the instructors they are very willing to help and easy to talk to. There are so many resources to help on homework and career wise, and staff guides you back to the right track if you are ever falling behind.

As William Cobbett once said “You never know what you can do, til you try.” And boy did I try..          Going into this bootcamp, I was extremely nervous considering it was pledged to be one of the most informational and academically inclined bootcamps in the cybersecurity career path. Although, I knew the challenges that would soon come my way as the days progressed closer to the start of the bootcamp, I realized something…            This was it for me.. either I get everything I possibly could out of this bootcamp and turn it into something fantastic, or I just go through the motions like every other college lecture that I had been to throughout my years in the education system. This was my last chance, and for someone who’s never been an excellent student in school.. I truly found out what I could do when I completely applied myself.             Not only was I learning so much from the carefully crafted curriculum that they offered but I was teaching some of the subjects I had learned to other students as well! Giving me both technical and leadership skills throughout the length of the cohort. As well, the instructional team was incredibly helpful with their support and expertise not only was I able to learn critical information that job recruiters search for now-a-days but I was able to create an everlasting friendship and bond with them.            I was able to meet incredible people from all walks of life that had come together to experience and educate themselves on incredibly complex topics. Being a part of that community and experiencing their trials and tribulations with them, truly helped me establish empathy and patience as well as communication skills. Helping others through possible mistakes they had made along the way and even being given the opportunity to be a group leader in the cohort gave be a sense of responsibility and inclusivity as well as aided me further retaining the information that was taught throughout the courses.            Week by week, day by day, studying, practicing and troubleshooting were my best friends throughout this bootcamp, truthfully I respect everyone who may attempt to embark on the journey that is this bootcamp with its incredible interesting activities and weekly challenges as well as projects that truly test your grit when it comes to actual hands on development, security, system administration and the many other topics covered.              Truthfully this bootcamp left a change in not only the way that I think of myself, but the way that I think throughout my professional embankment into the world of cybersecurity. This all comes straight from the heart and mind, and if I must leave you with one last motivational push it would be to go out there and try it, even if you think you’ll never be good enough or if you think you won’t get the material, if this is something you’re truly passionate about, go for it one hundred percent because as William Cobbett once said, “you never know what you can do, til you try.”

What else can I say other than this program is a complete scam. It is not run by Columbia university it is by Trilogy a company that finds inexperienced people to teach their courses to students who think that they will graduate with a new career. These programs are not just a waste of money because they do not teach you what they say they will, but also because the materials are outdated and instructors are totally inexperienced. I wasted $12k. Would NOT recommend. Look on Reddit for more information,

I am have not yet completed Columbia's Data Science Bootcamp but I can already tell you that I made a very big mistake signing up for it. I missed the fine print that said it was being taught by instructors at Trilogy Education Services and not Columbia personnel. I am 8 weeks in and I can say that I know more than these instructors on a lot of the subjects and if you try to correct them, they get mad and band together against you.  There are tons of errors in the modules and you spend a lot of time chasing down issues that aren't really issues because of errors.  I am feeling highly discouraged and am seriously considering contacting Columbia to discuss getting a full refund.
