On the positive side, the team-based learning approach seems to work well for many students, with around 75% of graduates reportedly finding jobs within six months of finishing the course. The course also provides access to valuable resources such as RangeForce and O'Reilly, and the people at Capslock are generally friendly and helpful.
Additionally, the course offers a cybersecurity practitioner certification, which could be useful for some learners.
However, there are several drawbacks to the course that I feel potential students should be aware of. Despite being advertised as "live classes," the actual instruction time is minimal. Instead, most of the learning takes place within teams, with students researching topics and creating PowerPoints on their own.
Unfortunately, many of the course tutors are past students with limited knowledge and experience in cybersecurity. I found that I was often left to solve problems and answer questions on my own, even during "live" class sessions. Furthermore, some of the security measures used by Capslock seem to be amateurish and easily bypassed, raising concerns about the quality of instruction and the safety of student data.
Ultimately, while Capslock may work well for some students, I would caution anyone who is truly passionate about cybersecurity against taking this course. The cost is high, and much of the learning seems to take place outside of class time, with little support from instructors. I personally feel that I could have learned more on my own with the same amount of time and effort.
As it stands, I have left the course due to what I consider to be an overreaction on the part of Capslock, ( They left a hyperlink to their intranet on a banner and when I clicked on it they accused me of being unethical and gaining unauthorised access).

I explored a lot of different prep options before deciding on Interview Kickstart and couldn't be happier. In particular, I was looking for support with system design and behavioral interviews. I am blown away by how well-structured and thorough all of IK's content and support is. They have such a complete set of structured content that walks you through understanding everything you need to know and most importantly mastering the strategies for HOW to ace any question you're given. IK knows the interview process inside and out and is a master at breaking down the underlying strategies, so I loved how I didn't have to waste any time figuring things out on my own and could simply stay extremely focused in my preparation. In addition, the support their team offers is unparalleled. They're always checking in to make sure you have everything you need to succeed and have always gone up and beyond for any special request I've had. IK truly offers such a thorough solution so that you have everything you need in a single place to succeed. I continue to be so impressed by the level of thoughtfulness they've put into designing the curriculum and ensuring every student has the support they need. Couldn't recommend them more. NEXT Academy

This section is just so that you can gauge if what I wrote below applies to your situation. I learned programming mostly on my own and only became a Codecool student because I found I needed help in getting a job. I also followed the courses of another company (Scoala Informala de IT <- would not recommend), but this was after I had a decent understanding of the Java programming language. I started learning Java at about 32 years old, and I joined Codecool when I was 36. I finished their courses in 8 months and got hired about 2 months after I finished.
The good:
- You will be surrounded by a community of people willing to help you learn how to code. I'm not talking here about the mentors necessarily (though they will definitely help you... if you set your shame aside and ACTUALLY GO ASK THEM), but about the other students.
- The curriculum is decent and, based on what I heard, it somehow got better AND shorter.
- The job guarantee, although not a guarantee per se (more about that in the next section), is real. If your attitude is not that of a jackass, you will get hired through them. This was the main selling point for me, because even though you can indeed learn to program from Udemi, that doesn't mean anyone will actually hire you.
- You will also learn how to hold presentations for your projects, a skill that, from recent experience, seems to be just as important as writing code.
The bad:
- The curriculum is a roller coaster ride to go through for somebody with no experience in programming. As people have probably already told you if you're planning on becoming a student, the course is a full time job, and you will most likely not be able to also work for the majority of the courses duration.
- Some of the mentors attitude towards mastery based learning can degrade to "figure it out yourself" without them leading you to the right way of doing things. This statement needs more clarification, as for somebody who hasn't programmed before it probably means that the mentor should be there to help with their the majority of their problems. This is not the case though because learning how to research and troubleshoot are also things that students need to learn. I'm talking about stamping out bad solutions that would make your potential employer shake their head in disagreement if they read the code.
- The HR/marketing team will sugarcoat the contract terms heavily. Now I don't blame them, in fact I'd do the same if I were them, however I still want to point it out. If you read the contract though you will know exactly what you're getting into. The terms are not for the faint of heart. If you won't read them, you'll grieve about how horrible the service is. Either way, it's on you. For example you're not actually guaranteed a job, you're guaranteed 6 interviews, but if needed the number of interviews you're allowed to take can be increased (the way I read this paragraph from the contract is that if you're a decent human being they will help you get hired. If not, they'll provide the 6 interviews and then "bye bye". And also it helps protect against abusers who will wait for a year and not have to pay for the course. Bottom line, read the contract).Venturenix LAB

I carefully researched my options for a UX/UI Bootcamp that was credible and part-time and decided on the Trilogy/University of Oregon. The program is very professional and well run. I can't say enough good about the people. The instructor, teaching assistants, and tutors are approachable and knowledgeable.
Some insight I would offer is that one of the most complex parts was learning how to use the tools. Because I had no background in design, the tools were utterly new to me. If I were to do it over again, I would take time to get a jump start and learn the basics of Figma before starting the program. In terms of time commitment, it would have been nearly impossible for me to complete the program while working full-time. I easily spent 20 hours a week on homework alone. Another thing to note is that office hours are 30 minutes before and after every class. They are beneficial, and I attended most of them to ask questions and get help.
My goal was to get the most out of the program, and one thing that was a struggle for me was that I would have liked more support. Office hours are great, but when there are 15 people all waiting to get their questions answered in 30 minutes, there is rarely enough time for everyone. Tutoring is offered once weekly for 45 minutes; if you're struggling, you can request an additional session. I could have easily had 2 - 3 hour weekly sessions because of my many questions. This was not a struggle for everyone in my cohort, but I had A LOT of questions since everything was new to me.
Overall, I would choose the same program if I were to do it all over again. I hope this review gives additional insight to prospective students. With dedication and hard work, you can do this! - 6Reviews2CoursesDesignUp University is a training provider offering a 12-week, self-paced, online Webflow design bootcamp covering topics like HTML, CSS, SEO, content manage... - How to be prepared? Don't come into this class not knowing how to use a file system, this is a class meant for people who are going to get hired by a professional company after 12 weeks. This class is meant for people who have a good understanding of computers and already have an understanding of programming theory and understand how to read syntax. File system structure is not something you teach in this class. Don't be the student the slows everyone else down then drops out after 1-2 weeks.
- If you're a potential student of this class DON'T AVOID IT BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE IS A BEGINNER CLASS.
- This class is focused on making YOU INTO A PROFESSIONAL AFTER 12 WEEKS.
- Use logic from 3 to come to a reasonable conclusion to what the class is about.
They also prepare you for job interviews and have other professionals in the business speak to the class, in my class:
- Job Coach Professional Sherri Thomas
- Technical Recruiter at Nextiva Alex Francis
- Melt Media Tech Director Anthony Garone
- Melt Media Hiring Manager Devon Tackett
Sherri is a professional job coach and guided the class on the process of resumes, interviews and job seeking.
Alex works for Nextiva and spoke to us about professional interviews, what not to do and what to do. Alex also provides help with resumes.
Anthony works for Melt Media and spoke to the class about expectations.
Devon works for Melt Media and gave the graduates a preliminary professional technical interview with feedback.
Some things to expect:
- The class has you build a project, your own website.
- There are some costs involved which the College cant pay for if you want to be able to own the site
- The website will be about you as a programmer.
- If you cant afford it Jeff can let you make one on the MCOR server

This course is a nicScalable TDD & Testing for UI Apps review:This is an expensive small course that is currently in beta. It is available from the newsletter. This course is a nice introduction to how LogicRoom does test driven development.Mechanics:The course’s mechanics is the same as Udemy: video lessons, code exercises, & assessment (quizzes).Content :The instructor will introduce you to test driven development and this is a good start to learn TDD for beginners. You learn to write tests properly; the most interesting part of the course is that you will be implementing what he calls a “DataAccessLayer” and testing it. This is a nice concept that encourages developers to think about how to architect business responsibilities in their JavaScript applications and leverage a UI framework’s/library’s reactivity. This is a cool slice of what the instructor teaches in his LogicRoom’s UI Architecture Academy. The course content felt short to me, and while this is a tad different, I think it would be nice if the instructor takes the Data Access Layer concept further and introduces it in a much larger, complex application example.UI Architecture Academy review:I found the content in this academy to be worthwhile so far. The course is already completed, but is still being maintained and modernized. Course content is getting revised and has a much better course structure; their community has recently transitioned from Slack to Discord.Mechanics:It is similar to Udemy. Like the short course, you get videos, text documentations, code exercises, and assessments (quizzes). However, modules are locked on the main course content. This is a very good approach as students cannot mark each lesson as completed and automatically receive a certificate; it cannot be abused like on Udemy, which renders certificates useless. You will ultimately be required to submit a final project in the last module within 8 weeks to get the certificate. I strongly encourage you to do the exercises to reinforce the lessons you’ve learned. On Tuesdays, there are sometimes community events. On Thursdays, there are primary group chats that go over whatever lessons and questions students have. Both group chat events are valuable. The instructor & the coaches do their best to answer questions, and moreover they are also focused on teaching students how to introduce this architecture to their coworkers. Whatever questions you may have, it’s best you post on Discord and attend the Thursday group chats. The only problem I may have with this system is that I think they should have students submit their exercises and have instructor/coaches review them. LogicRoom only encourages exercise submission if there are any questions and if there are huge differences from the solutions they provided.Content:
First things first, the only negative things I have for the academy is that I wished the videos edited out some of the pauses and that they included subtitles and transcriptions. The module about the abstractions felt too long; I think it could’ve been broken up. Moving on!The academy’s course contents are very valuable. I like the current main course’s content structure and the Extensions module. Three-quarters in, you are smoothly learning LogicRoom’s principles and applying good software design when it comes to writing code that cleanly handles responsibilities. The lessons, code examples, & exercises will have you learning TDD and how your codes should be separated in order to achieve better testability, maintenance, & scalability. If you haven’t learned about Inversion of Control or Dependency Injection, this is the place to learn them too. The main content breaks down the LogicRoom’s architecture very well. A lot of it is based on object-oriented programming. So there are some theories, but they’re backed up by a bunch of code examples and practical exercises.
As of right now, the main content uses React and vanilla JavaScript for their examples and exercises; however, the Extensions module provides great value as well. It is where students and the instructor work together to apply LogicRoom’s approach to different libraries and frameworks. You’ll see examples with react redux, Angular, Vue, React Query, and Next.js. I hope this continues to expand, but it appears mostly dependent on student feedback and collaboration. While the marketing is targeted towards senior engineers, I encourage junior developers and even coding bootcamp graduates to go through this program. It will strengthen your foundations as a software engineer and give you a new perspective on how to architect your projects.Treehouse

They make many of their materials available to everyone without having to pay. This is great for anyone on a tight budget or who just wants to get their feet wet. The videos are also superb quality and the teachers are very encouraging. Their courses cover a wide variety of technologies and languages.
Next, you can pay about $500/year to get additional, more advanced materials and take quizzes and code challenges.Lastly, you have the tech degree program which is much more expensive, but is more intense and for those who seriously want to pursue software developer jobs.
I also like that they are completely online. Sure, you lose out on networking with individuals in person, but it's also very convenient.
