Dr. Cole Ingraham is a musician and composer turned software engineer and data scientist who currently teaches at NYC Data Science Academy as Lead AI Instructor. After finishing his doctorate at the University of Colorado at Boulder, he spent two years living in Shanghai, China teaching, writing, and performing music, much of which involved software agents that he himself developed.
In 2015 Dr. Ingraham moved to New York City to join a startup called Amper Music as their Chief Scientist, where he designed and authored their best in class AI music composition system. After helping Amper to be acquired by Shutterstock in 2020, he joined Shutterstock as Director of AI Research, developing the feature to search their stock music catalog by supplying examples of similar music, and various work on combining text, image, video, and music together to improve search and discovery. Later he joined a marketing technology startup called Bluecore as Director of Data Science, leading the team working on recommendation systems and statistical performance measurement.
