    Foundations in Data Science

I took the Foundations in Data Science course from Springboard. I have had some introduction to statistics and programming (quite a bit of stats in my MBA program and took many datacamp certificates for R and Python programming).

Really enjoyed the foundations course from Springboard. Have tried using many MOOC`s (massive online open courseware) to learn data science but to no use. Springboard`s mentor driven and community driven coursework is a lot better. Setting up the R Studi...

    Foundations of Data Science Review

I recently completed the  Foundations of Data Science course. It took me a little less than 3 months to complete the curriculum and  capstone project.

The best part about Springboard is the mentoring. I loved my mentor--she was extremely generous with her time and knowledge and her interests and mine aligned very well. She was always quick to respond and really encouraged me to push forward with coding and analytics that I felt usure about. I really miss my mentor!

They dont know how to deal with students in a cordial way, I will not recommend this to anyone who is serious about learning Datascience, you can find their course on youtube for free

    Hi Shashank,

We’re sorry to hear that you feel this way! We completely understand that you didn’t have a great experience with your mentor. We do our best to monitor mentor experiences through our post-call surveys or when a student reaches out to their Student Advisor, and it’s unfortunate that your poor experience wasn’t brought into light until well into the course.

When it was brought to our attention, we were more than happy to work with you to understand your situation and find a positive resolution to move forward, including working with you to find a different mentor you’d be happy working with. It’s unfortunate that we weren’t able to come to agreement to help us move forward positively, and we’re sad that you still feel negatively despite our constant communication with you regarding this entire situation.

As an apology for your poor experience, we issued you a refund a few weeks back when you withdrew from the program, which should have been credited to your account. If you have further feedback to improve our program, we’re more than happy to hear it!

The mentorship and guidance really helped seperate this course from others. I was able to bounce ideas off of a professional and learn from him.

    Great Mentorship, Decent Curriculum

The curriculum is a bunch of curated resources from various web sites (Udacity, Lynda, and other web sources). They also do provide articles and suggested books. While I found the videos helpful, the suggested books hold the key information. Also just a note a lot of the resources you will want have short trials and you will end up having to pay for. I found Sketch, Flinto, and UXPin to be the most helpful for completing the projects.

The projects all build a good porfolio to br...

    SPRINGBOARD - FRAUD

    Hi guys
Today I am here to review my experience with Springboard as a alumni of its Data science Career Track
Just one sentence - Don't take it. Company is Fraud.
I pursued this course because of  their title of Job guarantee and wondered that if they are so sure about job guarantee then they must have content worthy and detailed enough to land me a job. But after completing it about 50% I realised that none of their content is original. It's just scrambled from internet and pi...

    Hi Priyesh,

Thank you for your recent feedback. We’re sorry to hear you feel that way about your Springboard experience. Our goal is to help our students realize their full potential, and if we have failed you in this regard, we apologize.

We’ve had the time to carefully review your feedback and speak to your mentor. We wanted to take this opportunity to go over a number of things highlighted in your recent review of Springboard and share our perspective in the hope of clearing up any misunderstandings.

    Curriculum
Our curriculum comprises curated study material, hands-on exercises, and a combination of mini and capstone projects. This material is either created in-house or curated from external sources and organized to ensure clarity and coherence.

In your feedback to us, you stated that you would have preferred live sessions. As soon as we launched our online program, we invited you to participate but did not hear back.

    Mentorship hours and calls
We are sorry to hear our mentorship hours did not work for you. However, we are always happy to discuss workarounds and talk with our students to make sure they are able to speak to their course mentors at a mutually suitable time. We know how much value our students derive from these conversations, and we do everything we can to make sure both students and mentors are happy.

Our mentorship calls usually last for 30 minutes—and often extend beyond that at mentors and students’ discretion. We are surprised to hear that your calls lasted only 5 minutes. We have also spoken to your mentor, who said they are more than happy and willing to provide you with extra time should you need it. Our team has also been trying to reach out to you to better understand what happened.

    Job guarantee
We are upfront in all our communication that our job guarantee is designed to help graduates make the career transition of their choice through personalized mentoring and career coaching that is tailored to each student’s needs.

We are upfront that we are not a placement provider.
We know changing careers is a daunting time for many of our graduates. That’s why we always strive to listen to our students’ feedback and improve where we can to help make this process as smooth and painless as possible. We want to thank you again for taking the time to write this review, and we hope you’ll get in touch with us directly to discuss the specifics of your course and how we could have better managed the transition. Thanks again, Priyesh!

No Background in Tech - Not Exactly a Success Story

You might be wondering how someone with no background in tech decided to enroll in a UX design course. I was an Area Manager with Costco for 5 years, 9 years with them in total, and I just started to get desperate; looking for a way out. One of my close friends has been successful in his career, and he is now a Talent Coordinator (or something like that. it doesn't even sound like a real job). We were hanging out and I was venting about my dislike for my career choice, then he suggested th...

    Hi Venkat,

Thank you for your recent feedback. We’re sorry to hear you feel that way about your Springboard experience. Our goal is to help our students realize their full potential, and if we have failed you in this regard, we apologize.

We’ve had the time to carefully review your feedback and speak to your individual mentor about your course. We wanted to take this opportunity to go over a number of things highlighted in your recent review of Springboard and share our perspective in the hope of clearing up any misunderstandings.

In your review, you highlighted three primary main areas of concern. Below you will find our responses to each of these.

    Curriculum
Our curriculum comprises curated study material, hands-on exercises, and a combination of mini and capstone projects. This material is either created in-house or curated from external sources and organized to ensure clarity and coherence.

Your feedback on the Springboard curriculum—which was received at the sub-unit level on 50 instances during your time in the program—was 5/5 without exception. To our knowledge, you did not raise any concerns about the curriculum at any point during the course. If we had received any feedback from you during the course, rest assured we would have done everything in our power to help get you back on track and ensure you had a positive experience.

    Mentorship program
In your review, you mentioned that the weekly 30-minute mentor calls were not enough, and that your mentor did not commit time beyond this 30 minutes per week. We spoke to your mentor and he assured us that he did try and commit additional time to you. We also tried to provide you with extra mentor calls when Springboard extended your original six-month program at no additional cost.

    Career services
According to our records, you were issued the completion certificate for your Springboard course one week before you left this review. We also noticed that you applied for a refund request on the same day you received your completion certificate.

On the refund request, you mentioned that you were not able to find enough job opportunities. Transitioning into a data science career is not easy. Trust us, we get it. This is why we do our best to help our graduates through extensive career services in our courses, which we offer for a period of up to six months after course completion. We also offer solid job training, such as mock interviews, to help our graduates better prepare for the job search ahead.

Thanks again, Venkat!

    career coaching.

    UX Design Course

Springboard provided 1-on-1 mentorship and a great curriculum to follow. One of the nicest perks of an online course is that you can pace yourself and don't feel the need to follow the set schedule. They do tell you the average time is about 3 months to get thorugh the entire course, but you can spend as long as you need.

Great Community, Mentorship, and Curated Coursework

Most of what I have learned about Data Science, I have learned online through free MOOC's. I enjoy this method of learning because I can really learn at my own pace, and I believe it nurtures free-thinking and problem solving in a way that more structured environments (i.e. univeristy) do not. After about a month of working through Springboard's Data Science Intensive course, I really like their unique learning environment. The coursework is curated from a pretty large variatey of websites...

But there were a lot of best practices in research and prep that I'd never properly learned to be an official UX designer.
